Burnaby Labour History event

The City of Burnaby is working in collaboration with the Burnaby Civic Employees Union (CUPE 23) to plan a series of events for Fall 2019 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the union, and to raise awareness of the long history of labour and citizen activism in our community.

We are interested in working with a choir who would like to help us organize an evening of songs interspersed with short presentations about Burnaby’s labour history. I would work with the choir to identify songs, and plan the presentation so they fit well together. We aren’t expecting choir members to deliver the presentations – we can take care of that part. Though we are happy to share that work, too, if there is interest from the choir in doing so.

The event would be part of our “Neighbourhood History Series” held each fall on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in Burnaby libraries, and at the Museum.
